You know what I forgot about? The library. Hard to believe, but I haven't been in a public library in YEARS. When I was a kid, I had a special "library" bin that I would drag home just brimming with books, from Swiss Family Robinson to the Baby-sitters Club, I would read every spare moment. I used to get up and huddle next to my nightlight chowing down on books long after my parents thought they put me to sleep.
Now, as a grad student, I read just as much, only it is article after article and book after book on American government and quasi-experimental designs and linear regression.....which even to a geek like me gets totally boring after awhile. So, I sort of gave up on reading for pleasure for awhile, but after a Christmas break where I got a chance to read a few good novels, I am determined to make time for at least a little bit of personal reading.
Sam and I visited our local public library (which was AWESOME), and he made fun of me for coming home with 6 books. I told him he ain't seen nothin'!! :) I finished the first one that same day....
On my list:
1. Prayer- Phillip Yancey
2. Redeeming Love- Francine Rivers
3. The Cost of Discipleship- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
....and if I can find the sequel to that "steamy" Amish romance novel Sam's grandma gave me for Christmas, I might just have to make time for that too....
i've joined the book challenge also. 60 books for me!!! i'm following you and have added you to my blogroll. good luck to you.
